Mocean Beach Resort

Set on the waterfront in West Sumbawa, Indonesia, Mocean Beach Resort is a PADI Resort built by divers for divers. Its house reef and nearby dive sites open onto pristine, little-explored reefs teeming with life — from manta rays gliding through a nearby cleaning station to black and white tip reef sharks patrolling the walls, and juvenile eagle rays feeding right off the house reef.

Courses and diving

With one PADI Instructor on staff, the centre runs a clear path through the levels: the PADI Open Water Diver Course (from USD 520), the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (from USD 450), and the PADI Rescue Diver (from USD 450). An onsite training pool and classroom make it a comfortable place to learn or build confidence.

Divers are looked after with an air-conditioned camera room, a dedicated wet area, private lockers, and a traditional 17-metre boat with sunbathing decks. English and Indonesian are spoken, making it a natural fit for anyone drawn to Sumbawa's astounding marine diversity — octopus, mantis shrimp, ghost pipefish, ribbon eels and abundant nudibranchs.
