Papalagi Diving School Tachikawa

Now celebrating its 40th anniversary, Papalagi Diving School Tachikawa has become one of Tokyo's most established diving communities. Members enjoy free use of 11 stores across Tokyo and Kanagawa, and with over 1,000 tours a year plus events, deep-sea seminars and gourmet gatherings, there's always something to look forward to well beyond your diver debut.

Courses and training

As a PADI 5 Star Dive Center, Papalagi guides you from complete beginner to professional at your own pace. With over 40 full-time instructors, license courses can run every day, and the minimum class size is just one, with no additional charge. Weekday, weekend or consecutive-day scheduling makes it easy to learn even with a busy life.

Pool training takes place in one of the metropolitan area's few indoor heated pools dedicated to diving, where you can rehearse breathing, neutral buoyancy and emergency response in stages. Marine training is held at the Jogasaki Coast in Izu, about an hour and a half from Tokyo Station and a five-minute walk from the sea. Instruction is offered in Japanese.
