Plan this trip with AI →Set in Wakatobi, Indonesia, Samambaia is carved in the timeless style of a traditional Phinisi, blending hand-crafted beauty with modern comfort. As a PADI Dive Boat, she was designed for travellers who wish to explore remote seas while enjoying space, warmth, and personal attention, with diving operations that are smooth and well organised thanks to two large tenders and an expert team of dive guides.
The centre offers PADI scuba diving with enriched air (Nitrox) available, making it well suited to divers keen to extend their time underwater. A house reef and waterfront location put the ocean right on the doorstep, while itineraries follow some of Indonesia's most extraordinary routes — from the coral gardens of Raja Ampat and the dramatic reefs of Alor to the manta-filled channels of Komodo and the rich volcanic slopes of the Banda Sea.
On board you'll find free Wi-Fi, warm-water showers, and Fish ID and diving books to help you get more from every dive. English is spoken, and the attentive crew makes the whole experience feel effortless.

★ 5 · Erik Horne · 2023-04-21We had a fantastic experience aboard the Samambaia. The boat was well laid out and it was easy to get to all of the amenities. The travel was always comfortable, the food was good and plentiful and the cabins were wonderful. Our dive guide always explained in detail how we would be diving the site and there was never more than four divers with each divemaster. It was the best liveaboard we have ever been on!!
★ 5 · Annabelle Roux · 2018-09-06I was on the East Flores and Alor 11 days itinerary which offers a combination of reef and muck diving. Except for 2 days, there was no other liveaboard in sight which made this trip even more relaxing. A highlight was the volcano on Komba island with a unique scenery. The boat and cabins are impeccable. The service is outstanding - the staff seems to always anticipate what you need. The food is fresh and healthy. The dive briefings were clear and concise - we always knew what to expect in terms of current and marine life. Serge is extremely professional and was attentive to all the guests’ requests. A very safe and well-run organization.
★ 5 · Doug Schumacher · 2018-03-07Serge (cruise director) and crew basically run a 5-star resort on the water. The whole experience was incredible from the crew, to the food, to the diving. Nearly everything is taken care of for you while you eat, dive, relax, and repeat for the course of your liveaboard. Safety is the top priority with thorough dive briefings involving in-time currents, detailed dive site drawings, potential hazards and emergency actions, and of course what is likely to be seen in each area. They went above and beyond when I came down with a sinus infection that sat me out for a couple of dive days. Cabins and facilities are always immaculately clean and tidy, and a nice variety of food was supplied by the cooking staff. Always kept us guessing what was next to be served. The top deck was always at least partially shaded when the sun was out with plenty of chairs to relax in. A separate camera room, salt and fresh water tanks, clothing dry lines, and spacious prep areas were also pluses. It was definitely a sad day when the finer boats headed away from the Samambaia to take us back to the mainland! I'm already looking into booking another trip with the Samambaia team.
