Plan this trip with AI →The Sea Safari 8 is a traditional wooden liveaboard exploring Indonesia's underwater gems from a 113-foot (34.35m) vessel originally built in 2003 and fully renovated in 2015. Its itineraries reach Raja Ampat, the Banda Sea, Manokwari, Derawan, Ambon, and Sumbawa, where visibility often reaches 20–30 meters over vibrant coral reefs.
A dive team of 20 crew and 5 dive professionals supports certifications ranging from Discover Scuba to Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver. Enriched air (Nitrox) and rental equipment are available, making this a strong fit for divers looking to build skills while sailing between remote sites. Complimentary airport and hotel transfers keep the journey smooth from start to finish.
Between dives, guests relax on the spacious sundeck, enjoy the bar, and retreat to air-conditioned cabins in twin, double, or bunk configurations. A buffet blends international and Indonesian dishes, including vegetarian options, while Fish ID and diving books and Wi-Fi ($) round out the onboard experience. English and Indonesian are spoken, with other languages on request.

★ 5 · Brent Thompson · 2018-09-13I assume most divers considering a liveaboard have liveaboard experience. If not, you should know that Indonesia, the Phillipines, Taiwan, etc have many ships retrofitted from sea going sailing schooners. They are wood and very comfortable. This ship was a dream for me. All the charm of a sailing ship with modern facilities for air con, plumbing in room and plenty of deck space to relax. The crew was extremely knowledgeable and eager to point things out on dives. The dives worked like clockwork and your tanks were always set up and ready to go. Liveaboards have tight quarters but are very comfortable. Our itinerary kept us busy. The dive deck was spacious and the camera enthusiasts had plenty of room to work. The food was of local origin and was delicious. The only reason I gave it a 4 was that it was not sit down service in the evening which is absolutely preferable to me but I thought it should be noted if it is important to you. I will return to this boat and her sisters again (and again and again). A shout out to Mark who kept an eye on me the entire time as I was pretty much the weak link :) . Lastly, if you are contemplating a liveaboard for the first time, go for it. Even if you are single. Divers are divers and social awkwardness simply doesn't exist. You will get only encouragement and gain friends for life. (Even if you aren't friendly!)
