SGS Tauchen

Tucked into the Sauerland region, SGS Tauchen is a PADI® Five Star Dive Center in Balve, Germany, run by Sigrid and Cay Schmidt. With two PADI Instructors on hand, the centre treats training as a matter of trust — taking the time to give you personal advice on both your course and your equipment, and even arranging appointments outside opening hours if that suits you better.

Courses and dive sites

The programme spans everything from scuba diving through to Technical Trimix Diver. You can begin with the PADI Enriched Air Diver NITROX basic course from USD 153 over roughly one day, step up to the PADI Deep Diver (from USD 236, about two days), or take on the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver from USD 425 across roughly three days.

Local diving takes in Tauchsportzentrum Nordhausen, Messinghausen See im Berg, ProDive - Der Tauchplatz, Hallenbad in Balve and Taucherbucht Möhnesee. On site you'll find a training pool, classroom, retail shop, free Wi-Fi and parking, with instruction offered in English and German — ideal for divers who value hands-on, personal guidance.
