Diving and biking on Kwajalein

The Bike Shop Kwaj wears two hats, and it's upfront about both: it's Kwaj's premier bike shop, and it's a PADI Dive Center serving Kwajalein Island in the Marshall Islands. If you find yourself stationed there, the invitation is a simple one — get PADI certified and come out for a dive.

Training runs through 2 PADI Instructors, with PADI Scuba Diving, PADI Snorkelling and PADI First Aid — EFR on the books, plus a conservation focus and a dive club for those who want to keep the habit going. There's an onsite training pool for the early skills, air conditioning to retreat into, and a retail shop for equipment sales. Scuba and freediving gear rental is available, and the rental range covers open-heel fins, BCD, mask and snorkel, gauges, regulator and dive computer.

The water around Kwajalein turns up sharks, whales, turtles and ocean fish. Instruction is in English, which suits the island's community well — this is a straightforward, service-oriented outfit for residents and newcomers alike.
