★ 1 · Jason Cakebread · 2010-10-18We have a dive club based in Dongguan, China. Every year we plan a group holiday to somewhere in asia. Last year 33 of us went to Malapascua, Philippines diving with the Thresher Shark Divers, and although the weather was bad (weather can't be controlled) we were well looked after, plenty of choices of where to dive and PROFESSIONAL INSTRUCTORS. This year we decided to go to Krabi, Thailand to dive. What a contrast. The operators at Aqua-Vision were misleading us (after talking to other dive centres i'd say plain lying) into believing there were plenty of choices on where to dive. We were told by other dive centres that every year end of Sept - mid Oct the tides & currents are so bad that you can only dive Phi Phi Island and on a really good day shark point. Aqua-Vision knew if they told us this at the beginning then we would have chosen a different venue as we were locked into the beginning of October. 2 of our divers took their advanced course and chose Wreck, PPB & night as their specialities. they were told they couldn't do night as there were not enough people. when other divers from our group also signed up for a night dive we were told the boat captain didn't want to go as he prefers to finish early in the off-season. The 2 AOW students were never tested on their book work and the dive exercises were a joke. (PPB consisted of a brief vertical hover followed with a horizontal hover and that was it. The wreck was even worse/misleading & dangerous with the instructor requiring them to swim through a 8x8metre hole in the deck structure and that was their wreck passed (no looking for penetration points and marking the dangers around it nothing about tying off a line). Navigation, Deep & Dive computer (after being refused night) were all as screwed up as well with our 2 guys feeling cheated as they wanted to learn and be tested on skills. They didn't pay that money to get a PADI Card. they paid that money to learn and deserve the padi card. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND T0 EVERYONE TO LOOK AT THE OTHER DIVE CENTRES AS WE UNFORTUNATELY AT THE END OF THE HOLIDAY THERE WERE BETTER, HONEST & PROFESSIONAL OUTFITS THERE.
