About Aldesta Heron Island Pty Ltd

Heron Island is known the world over for its excellent Great Barrier Reef dive sites, and Aldesta Heron Island sits right at the heart of it. With 20 sites to explore across the Heron and Wistari Reefs — all only minutes from the jetty — divers have a remarkable spread of waters at their doorstep on the Heron and Wilson Islands.

What you'll find underwater

The surrounding waters are relatively shallow, averaging 10–15 metres, and teem with reef fish, turtles, reef sharks, and an endless variety of marine invertebrates. Mantas are typically seen in winter, while green turtles nest on the island from November to April. Around 60% of the 1,500 fish species and roughly 72% of the coral species found on the Great Barrier Reef call these waters home.

As a PADI 5 Star Dive Resort with 8 PADI instructors, the centre caters to every level — from the novice snorkeler to the experienced diver — offering PADI certified courses, snorkelling, and scuba equipment rental. With an onsite training pool, classroom, and a waterfront location, and staff speaking English, Spanish, and Italian, it suits anyone keen to experience the reef.
