About Aqua Trek - Mana Island

Bula Vinaka! Aqua Trek Mana is a PADI 5 Star Dive Resort based at Mana Island Resort & Spa in Fiji's Mamanuca Islands, a 45-minute boat ride from the main island of Viti Levu. The centre looks after resort house guests as well as day trippers arriving by yacht and private charter, and also offers tank fill services for private boats.

Courses and diving

With 2 PADI Instructors on staff, Aqua Trek Mana runs the full spectrum of PADI courses, from Discover Scuba right through to Divemaster level, alongside fun diving and snorkelling. First aid training through EFR is available too, making it a solid choice whether you're taking your first breaths underwater or building toward a professional rating.

The local team knows the surrounding reefs intimately, and the dive sites sit just minutes from the island, with the furthest around 30 minutes away. Sites such as Turtle Head offer encounters with sharks, whales, turtles and ocean fish. On land you'll find an onsite classroom, air conditioning and a dive boat, with air fills and scuba equipment rental on hand. Staff speak English and Japanese.

My dive buddy and I dove two shark feeding dives with Aqua Trek and earned our PADI specialty certification as Extreme Shark Divers. In between the two dives, Brandon Paige, the shark expert attached to Aqua Trek, spoke at length about sharks, shark habits, threats to sharks, and so on. I know quite a bit more now than I knew before about these maligned and endangered creatures. The staff was highly professional and protective of us divers, who were, after all, on the turf of some potentially agressive and unpredictable characters. At no time, however, did we feel frightened or endangered. If you are interested in seeing a variety of sharks, (White Tip, Black Tip, Gray Reef, Yellow, Nurse, Bull, and maybe a Tiger), this is the place to do it. As far as I know, Aqua Trek is the only location that offers the PADI certification mentioned above.
