Avila's Horizon

Set on Malapascua Island in the Philippines, Avila's Horizon is a PADI 5 Star Dive Resort built for divers chasing one of the country's most iconic encounters — the majestic thresher shark. With waterfront access, an onsite classroom, and a resident PADI Instructor, it's a welcoming base whether you're a first-timer or logging your Open Water dives.

Courses and diving

Training runs from Open Water Course (from USD 372, approx. 3 days) through Advanced Open Water (from USD 330, approx. 2 days) and PADI Rescue Diver (from USD 406, approx. 3 days). Signature outings include the Thresher Shark Dive and Gato Island trips, each from USD 132 and around 6 hours. Expect a minimum of 2 dives per day, up to 4 depending on conditions, with 3 dives typical for signature sites. Enriched air (Nitrox) is available.

Dive sites range across Kimud Shoal, Monad Shoal, Gato Island, Chocolate Island, the Lighthouse wreck, and the Dona Marilyn Wreck, with sharks, whales, turtles, rays, and ocean fish in the water. English and Filipino are spoken.
