Capt. Slate's Scuba Adventures

Operating since 1978, Captain Slate's Scuba Adventures is a dive, snorkel and scuba shop in Florida Keys-Tavernier, just south of the Tavernier creek bridge. As a PADI Dive Center with six PADI instructors, it's a welcoming base to start or continue your dive education, with an onsite training pool, onsite classroom and a waterfront location.

Courses and dive sites

The centre runs nine courses and activities, from PADI Discover Scuba Diving and the PADI Open Water Diver Course to the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and PADI Divemaster, plus a PADI ReActivate Scuba Refresher. Half-Day Dive Trips run morning and afternoon, from USD 105 for around four hours.

Three boats keep each voyage personable and relaxed. Dive sites include the Benwood Shipwreck, patch reefs at 20-30 ft, barrier reef from shallow to deep, and wrecks such as The Eagle, Bibb, Duane and Spiegel Grove. Expect sharks and rays, turtles, ocean fish, eels, molluscs and crustaceans, corals and more. With adaptive services, Nitrox and English-speaking staff, it suits new and experienced divers alike.
