Cidade Velha Diving

Set in the historic town of Cidade Velha on Santiago Island — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the birthplace of Cabo Verde's colonial history — Cidade Velha Diving is the first and only PADI Dive Center in this remarkable corner of the archipelago. It's a place where volcanic rock formations, coral gardens, and dramatic drop-offs meet centuries of maritime heritage.

Courses and diving for every level

The centre offers a full range of PADI courses and experiences, from Discover Scuba Diving for complete beginners through to Advanced and Rescue Diver certifications, including the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course from USD 359 over approximately 2 days. Guided fun dives and snorkeling tours round out the options.

Divers explore warm waters year-round (~25°C) with great visibility, encountering tropical reef fish, moray eels, octopus, nudibranchs, sea turtles, and even small rays and nurse sharks. A high concentration of shipwrecks from the 16th to the 19th century makes this an exciting spot for lovers of underwater history. With instruction available in English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese, it suits both first-timers and seasoned divers seeking authentic, untouched adventures.
