Jan Thiel, Curaçao · Dive Center★ 3.5
from USD 105 / person
Plan this trip with AI →Scuba Do is a relaxed yet professional PADI 5 Star Dive Resort set on the oceanfront at Jan Thiel, one of Curaçao's most vibrant hot spots. With five PADI Instructors on the team, the center runs daily shore diving on clear coral reefs, where divers may spot sea turtles, eagle rays, dolphins and more. Weekly boat trips head out to the exclusive East Point, an otherwise unreachable site rich in pristine corals and Caribbean marine life.
Newcomers can get their first taste of the sport with PADI Discover Scuba Diving (from USD 105, around 3 hours), while the PADI Open Water Diver e-learning course (from USD 515, roughly 3 days) leads to full certification. Enriched air (Nitrox) is available for those wanting more time underwater.
Dive sites range from Divers Leap and Beacon Point to the Superior Producer wreck, Turtle Rock and Barracuda Point. With a house reef, onsite classroom, free Wi-Fi and English- and Dutch-speaking staff, Scuba Do suits both first-timers and divers chasing off-the-beaten-track Caribbean reefs.

★ 2 · Jeroen S. · 2013-06-17After getting my open water in 2007, and after that my advanced, I have been diving at Scubado nearly every year we visited Curacao with great pleasure. Two years ago, I took my wife to the center who was afraid of fish at first to do some dives. The instructors took good care of her and she managed to get her PADI scuba diver certificate and could get control of her fears. This year we went back to see if she could finish her course to be open water certified. Unfortunatly, the owner wasn't around anymore. We started to ask for some information, but we really got a bad taste from this visit. The guy at the desk was very impolite. At first she had to do a check dive, which couldn't be combined with a course, together with again 5 dives, also the price got even higher without any package deals. Also, the guy said that they didn't have instructors sitting around waiting for someone like ourselves to come in for a dive after we'd asked if we could do any dives on short notice. It seemed as if the guys at the center didn't really care.. After this message we thanked him for the information and visited two other centers. Here she could get her open water for nearly half the price because of the exercises that could be combined within a dive without doing a checkdive. Too bad that the service got worse. I always liked the center and had great fun diving there (about 18 guided dives). I also recommended the center to friends who visited the island, but not sure if I would do this again. I do hope that the owner will be back at the center again and customer services will be better in the future.
★ 5 · Ruben L. · 2012-09-10My first dives after certification... I was a bit surprised and very nervous because of the check-up dive. However, it is not a bad thing...at all! Some basic skills can get a bit rusty if not practiced for a long time, even for more experienced divers. After the check-up dive and house reef dive I've visited Blue Bay. Both times the divemaster was Juni. Very relaxed and skilled guy, who comforted me despite my lack of self-confidence at that time. The used gear is in great condition and the school has got different buses to visit the divesites. The sealife of Curacao is stunning, but a lot of coral has been destroyed by storms/hurricanes which is a pity. All in all a great divng experience and I will visit Scuba Do again if I'm near Curacao.
