Dominica, Dominica · Dive Center★ 4.7
Plan this trip with AI →Off the coast of Dominica, Dive Dominica runs a fleet of five fully equipped boats out to the island's stunning southern dive sites. Days follow an easy rhythm: boats depart at 8.45am sharp, and after two dives you're back by 1pm. On every site a PADI Divemaster briefs the group and leads a one-hour tour beneath the surface.
The sites suit both beginners and advanced divers, with conditions that are usually easy and visibility that's excellent — an inviting introduction to the world beneath the waters. As a PADI Dive Center, it's a natural fit for anyone who wants professional guidance rather than a crowd.
Never tried scuba before? The Discover Scuba experience is made for first-timers. You'll spend around 30 minutes learning the basics of how to dive and how the equipment works, then up to 60 minutes in the water with a professional instructor at your side the whole time — ready to hold your hand if you like.

★ 5 · Daphne Mack · 2011-11-05Dive Dominica was our dive operator contracted with our cruise line, and we couldn’t have been happier. After the boat moored, came the dive orientation and briefing, and we geared up to experience our first of two dives, L’Abym. It is a vertical wall that begins at 40 feet and drops to 2,000 feet. One DM leads while the other is at the back of the group. It was a colorful wall of sponges and reef fish with a slight current so very little effort was required to follow, just enjoy the dramatic view. We stayed down for approx. 40 min. at about 60 feet with a safety stop built in. The second dive took place at Point Guinarde – created by lava flows forming crevices and swim-throughs. We saw plenty of schooling fish and squid, lobster and crab. We dove at approx. level of 40 feet, again with a safety stop built in. They presented each of us with a Diving and Snorkling book for future visits we are so looking forward to. We thoroughly enjoyed our dive adventures in Dominca, the great crew and the dive operation – Dive Dominica.
★ 5 · Dane Tanner · 2011-03-22Just got back from a week at the Castle Comfort Lodge, diving with the onsite Dive Dominica dive shop. We got the diving package which includes 5 days of 2 tank dives and 1 night dive. The boats were large and in good shape with camera rinse tank and plenty of room. On the first day we had about 10 divers, some from nearby Fort Young Hotel. We had 2 dive masters and the boat captain. The dive briefing was very informative, although a little more scripted than I am used to. This is a good thing though, so they miss nothing, no matter if new divers or the people that have been there all week. They were genuinely concerned with safety and enjoyment of the divers. Both divemasters, Kevin and Brad were very knowledgeable about the animals and corals of the area. We did a different site for all dives except the night dive. We had anywhere from 3 to 10 divers on the boat through the week. The night dive was just 2 divers and the divemaster. All of the dives had great wildlife and nice coral formations. Dominica has reefs close to shore, so not much time to the sites. Very dramatic coral pinnacles and walls extending to the abyss. Lots of fish, turtles, lobsters, crabs, shrimp and my personal favorite, sea horses. Our equipment was rinsed and put away for us after the dives. A key was available to guests to get equipment and tanks to go on shore dives and time of day or night. This is a quality dive operation. The hotel could use some updating, but it is functional and a good value.
★ 4 · Todd Anderson · 2009-07-10We dove 3 days with this operation and were lucky enough be on their newest catamaran vessel. A large covered area, plenty of space, excellent ladders, with a bathroom, the rides are only 20-30 min. to Scott's Head . The captain and divemasters were friendly and professional and there were no incidents during our dives (no missing divers, bad air fills, or malfunctioning rental gear). The diving in Dominica is some of the finest in the Caribbean (albeit expensive-all the dive shops were similarly priced) as the result of early establishment of the Marine Preserve and no commercial fishing. Divemasters knew all the sites intimately and were adept a pointing out lots of creatures for the photographers. The dive shop has 3 other boats and if you dive out of the Fort Young Hotel, you are actually diving with Castle Comfort.
