Diving Stage Ariel

Diving Stage Ariel is a PADI Dive Center based in Sendai, Miyagi, with Onagawa as its home ground — waters the team has been diving for around 30 years. Sanriku's sea is the draw here: grunt sculpin (kutibashikajika), first confirmed living in Onagawa 26 years ago and watched over ever since; the popular lumpfish (dangouo), which can be seen year-round; and colourful colonies of wild sea squirt (maboya). Transfers between Sendai and the dive sites mean you won't have to worry about getting there.

Courses and who it suits

As a PADI Dive Center with 2 PADI instructors, Ariel runs PADI Scuba Diving, PADI Snorkelling and PADI First Aid (EFR) training, and takes part in conservation activities. Whether you're just starting out, returning after a long break, new to the shop or coming from another agency, everyone is welcome.

On land you'll find an onsite classroom, air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, a retail shop and parking. Equipment sales and rental — including kids' sizes — are available, and Japanese is spoken.
