★ 4 · David P. · 2011-09-19At the end of August 2011, I undertook a weeks diving with Donovan, Egert and the crew at Eastern Caribbean Diving and can honestly say it was one of the best diving experiences of its type that I have done. Late August is at the quieter end of the St Lucian dive season so I almost had the boat and dive sites to myself which was as great as it allowed Egert, Rusty and the other guides time to realax and let their passion for the local marine life and its envoironment to shine through. And shine through it did, I was lucky enough to spend most of my week diving with Egert whose ability to spot macro size critters amongst the coral was nothing short of amazing. Whilst the reefs are not as spectacularly vibrant as those found in say the Red Sea or Indian Ocean they do provide homes for a wide variety of creatures particularly at the Macro end of the scale and very enjoyable experiences for those willing to slow down and look carefuly at what's around them. For me though the best dive was one spent on the Lesleen M wreck - a cargo ship sunk in 1986 as as part of the island's artificial reef program. 45 min of pure joy as I was able to explore the site and its fishy inhabitants alone apart from the guide.
