Lizard Island Lodge

Set at the very tip of the Great Barrier Reef, Lizard Island Lodge sits directly on the reef near Cooktown — a genuinely secluded corner of Australia where diving is woven into island life. Diving and courses

With a house reef right on the doorstep and a dive boat for exploring further afield, there's plenty to keep divers busy. The centre offers PADI Scuba Diving and PADI Snorkelling, backed by an onsite training pool that makes learning the ropes comfortable and unhurried. Scuba equipment rental is available, and the team also runs conservation activities for those who want to give something back to the reef.

The marine life is a real draw — expect encounters with sharks, whales, turtles, ocean fish, rays, mammals and reptiles, molluscs and crustaceans, plus corals, anemones and jellyfish.
