Matangi Private Island Resort

Matangi Private Island Resort sits on Taveuni Island, Fiji, and bills itself as the most centrally located of all Fiji's northern island resorts to the scuba diving sites Fiji is famous for. Within a 20-mile radius are countless dive sites, including the world famous Great White Wall and Noel's Wall.

How the diving works

The daily dive programme includes two morning tanks, with prepaid 3 day/6 tank and 5 day/10 tank packages also offered. The dive boat departs Matangi Island daily around 8:30 am and returns to the island for lunch. Sites are chosen according to daily tidal movements and prevailing weather conditions, so the day's plan follows the conditions rather than a fixed script. Day trips to the more remote sites in the Somosomo Strait can be arranged with a minimum of four divers, though a fuel surcharge applies given the distance.

This is a PADI Resort offering PADI Scuba Diving and PADI Snorkelling, with an onsite classroom, retail shop, air fills, food and drinks, and accommodation right at the waterfront. English is spoken. Certified divers should note that a certification card is required before diving — this suits divers who already hold a ticket and want easy access to Taveuni's walls.
