Nice Buddy

The house reef at Nice Buddy is the kind of dive that spoils you for anywhere else. Entry could hardly be simpler — walk down the stairs into the water, slip your fins on once you're in, and descend. A rope leads the way out to the reef, though on most days it's more courtesy than necessity: the water is clear enough that you can see exactly where you're going.

Courses and diving

Nice Buddy is a PADI centre offering PADI scuba diving instruction, with boat diving available alongside the shore-entry reef. That combination makes it an easy fit for divers at either end of the spectrum — newcomers working through a PADI course who want a forgiving, walk-in entry point, and certified divers who'd rather spend their surface interval on the reef than in transit.

The centre is based in Shinkamigoto, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan. For anyone drawn to relaxed, low-fuss diving where the best site is quite literally at the bottom of the stairs, it's a straightforward choice.
