Really great place and even better dive operation. Terrific crews, great accommodations, super fun time. They're at the east end of the island which is a bit more remote (and quieter) but they set you up onboard, wash your gear every night, track all your dives, etc. Will dive there again!:)

We dove with Ocean Frontiers and stayed at Compass Point for seven nights. The Diving was excellent even though the weather was a little rough the first two days. Captains worked to locate great dive sites and dive masters worked hard to make the dives interesting and safe. We enjoyed the excellent accommodations and diving.

The room was really, really nice and the bed was super comfortable. We enjoyed the pool and the sky was amazing at night. We also used the kitchen for lunch 4 times and breakfast twice. Maybe I am spoiled but I was expecting better based on the reviews. The dives were only so-so. The visibility was no where near 100 feet even though it was listed at 100 every day. And even though the boats are big and comfortable two groups of 7 divers plus instructor is a lot of divers on site. I was a little disappointed in the instructors obsession with the long 20-30 yard swim through's. Sure they were cool at first but by the end of the trip after about 15 of them I was tired of having rocks over my head. If you're # 5 in an 8 man swim through it's pretty lame. A little dangerous as well on the long ones. Lack of creatures was also disappointing. Zero sharks and zero rays. Anyway I had three of my 5 deepest dives in my career (75 dives) , at 120, 116 and 110 feet on the morning dives and that was pretty cool. The personal dive report you can have printed is pretty cool too. 30 minute boat rides and repeating 2 dive sites in the 4 days was not. I didn't actually see the royal treatment everyone brags about on the boats. I barely even spoke to the dive masters and it was pretty much every man for himself after you were in the water. Two times divers lost their original group. No buddy system at Ocean Front. Plus I seem to be in the minority that changing over my gear is not something that really impressed me. I actually think you should take care of your own gear. Anyway there is no beach at all at the resort although they insist there is. There is zero places to get into the Caribbean Sea from the resort. Trust me I swim in Jamaica Bay NYC so I'm not skittish but you can not swim from this resort. That was the biggest draw back for us. We actually bagged our last two dives on Friday to spend the day at 7 mile beach and get some beach swimming in. It was spectacular and the Caribbean was phenomenal but I wish I did not have to skip dives to do it. Also I usually like to come home with some cool swag but the dive shop was pretty sparce in that regard. Not a lot of cool tees or diver down stickers. I did get a coffee mug in the Sandbox at least. We had some great dinners at the Light House and David's and a decent lunch at Eagle Ray's and some really beautiful nights sitting out by the dock but anyway like I said maybe I'm spoiled but I like a swimming beach right outside my door, better views, more creatures/less swim throughs and better snorkeling so next time we'll be heading back to Saint Thomas, Cozumel or Bonaire. I'm glad we went and we had a really nice time and a good adventure but in the end it is all pretty expensive and you only have so many vacations in this life so you might as well get what you want. Different strokes for different folks and all that and certainly not everyone agrees as there were a ton of multiple repeat clients at the resort but for us Cayman was one and done.
