Tauchsport Nidwalden

Perched beneath Mount Pilatus, Tauchsport Nidwalden calls Lake Lucerne a diving paradise — and the PADI 5 Star Dive Center makes its case for underwater explorers and aquanauts alike. Two PADI Instructors run the programme from a waterfront base at Hergiswil, with an onsite classroom, a retail shop, free Wi-Fi and parking on hand.

Courses for every stage

The centre lists 21 courses and activities, starting with PADI Discover Scuba Diving from USD 140 over roughly three hours. From there, divers can build skills through PADI Scuba Diver, Open Water Referral Part 1/2 theory and pool training, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Underwater Navigator, Wreck Diver and Rescue Diver.

Local diving happens right on the doorstep. There's a house reef — Hausriff Tauchsport Nidwalden — plus Lopper I Hergiswil, Neuseeland, Buochs/Beckenried and Steinibach Delta, reached by shore or dive boat. Equipment sales, air fills and rental gear cover everything from 7mm wetsuits and drysuits to compasses, scooters, dive computers and children's sizes.

Instruction runs in English, French and German, and the centre also hosts a dive club and conservation activities — a good fit for anyone who wants their diving to be a habit, not a holiday.
