Waterhorse Charters brings scuba diving to San Diego by boat — with all the creature comforts. Sailing from the closest commercial dock to the ocean aboard the well-equipped Newton dive boats, the Humboldt and the Orion, this waterfront PADI Resort pairs a safety-first mindset with a genuine, community-driven welcome. Heated showers, hot soup, and a warm crew turn every trip into an easy, joyful day on the water.

Dives, sites and who it suits

With 6 PADI Instructors on hand, divers can go self-guided or add an optional tour guide, with advanced certification required for certain trips. Weekly outings visit Wreck Alley, La Jolla Ecological Reserve, the Point Loma kelp forest, and the sea lion colonies at the Coronado Islands, with the chance to encounter sharks, whales, turtles, ocean fish, corals and more.

Tanks, weights, snacks and seasickness aids come included, and you can bring your own gear or add 7mm wetsuits, Nitrox tanks or GoPro rentals. Air fills, Nitrox and equipment rental round out the services. English, Spanish and Portuguese are all spoken — ideal for divers who value comfort, kindness and community.
