About Coral Sea Dreaming

Small in size but big on character, Coral Sea Dreaming is an air-conditioned sailboat liveaboard that carries just 12 guests and 3 crew across Australia's Great Barrier Reef. That intimate scale keeps the atmosphere relaxed and personal — a rare thing on the reef, and a natural fit for divers and snorkellers alike.

The diving

The Dive & Sail adventure runs round-trip from Cairns over 2 days and 1 night, packing in 4 dives with unlimited tank refills and unlimited snorkelling, all equipment provided. Every dive is guided by experienced instructors, opening up over 25 Outer Reef dive sites. Expect vibrant coral gardens, swim-throughs, and encounters with turtles, reef sharks, and pelagics.

Life on board is easy and comfortable. Overnight trips include full board meals, morning and afternoon tea, fresh fruit snacks, and air-conditioned cabins to retreat to. When the diving winds down, the deck becomes the perfect spot for stargazing over the open water.

Had an amazing time diving with Claire and the Coral Sea Dreaming team. The cabin was comfortable and the boat had plenty of room for everyone. They were able to cater for my vegan dietary requirements no problems, and although the food was basic it was fresh and tasty and there was plenty to eat. As far as the diving goes, the instructors Marita and Joey were awesome and knew the dive sites well, with quality equipment and we went to some amazing dive sites on Milln Reef, with easily the best night dive I’ve ever done... very active grey reef sharks! To make things even better, Claire has amazing knowledge of the reef and the team is doing important conservation and research work to protect the reef which was fascinating to learn about on the trip. It was a very inclusive space and everyone on the trip felt made welcome too. Thanks for an awesome time!

My husband and I went on the Nov 7-8th dive trip with Christian, Mike, and Leo. We were able to spend the entire trip around Milln Reef, and its hard to say how beautiful and full of fish these sites were. We rented the underwater camera on board and just converted the photos off our SD card last night. It was an incredible trip! Some logistics first - we are both PADI Open Water certified, but the boat was also able to accommodate non-certified intro divers. The boat suppled ALL our dive gear (mask, fins, computer included) all the way down to having defog for our goggles. For this who don’t dive, or even for divers after the dive, snorkeling is unlimited and we often went back out to snorkel at the sites before we left. There were people who came along on the trip who just snorkeled, and it really was some incredible snorkeling. There’s an option for a night dive, which is another perk as few dive boats are able to offer this to non-certified divers. It’s not a luxury boat, but the exchange for having a small group with more of a personalized experience is 100% worth it. I would absolutely go out on this boat again.

What a great way to experience the Great Barrier Reef! They know the best diving spots and waking up at the Great Barrier Reef was one of the best things ever. I saw so many different fish, turtles, sharks,... Beautiful!
