Getting there

Getting to Galapagos The Humboldt Explorer departs from San Cristobal every Monday afternoon. Both Guayaquil and Quito have daily flights to the islands, although Guayaquil is recommended with cheaper prices and better-timed connections. You will need to overnight in Guayaquil or Quito before flying on to the Galapagos. To ensure easy flight connections, a 2 night stop-over is recommended. We also recommend arriving in Galapagos a day before if possible to avoid any possible delays as a result of volcano activity The trip The dive guides will meet the guests at the airport and escort them to the Humboldt Explorer. We were on the Humbolt Explorer from nov 27 to dec 4th 2023 heading for the Galapagos (Wolf & Darwin) This was a bucklet list destination for me and my wife Explorer met all our expectations and so did the Galapagos Hundreds of hammerhead sharks, 2 whale sharks, 2 killer whales, many turtles, sea lions, dolphins, and multitude of marine life all around us We loved the remotenesses but still felt secure thanks to the guides Oscar and Kevin, as well to the ship crew’s who were excellent at all time Food on board was excellent and plentiful Sure an expensive liveaboard but better that then a full bank account on my last day in this world 😉😂
