About Manta Queen 7
The Manta Queen 7 works the classic Similan Islands route out of Khao Lak, a stretch of Thailand's Andaman coast where huge granite boulders form caverns and arches, and lush greenery and white sand beaches ring the nine islands. Below the surface, the marine ecology is unparalleled — colourful schools of fish, coral reefs, and endangered visitors like whale sharks and manta rays.
The route
Koh Bon and Koh Tachai, both part of Similan Islands National Park, are visited en route to Richelieu Rock in the Surin Marine Park, adding pelagics, Napoleon wrasse and night diving for macro-creatures. The itinerary also takes in Koh Surin, Boon Sung Wreck and Elephant Head Rock. Photographers should watch for ghost pipefish, sea moths, frogfish, ribbon eels and many different nudibranchs.
Built in 2010 and custom built for diving, the 27m boat carries up to 24 guests across 10 cabins, with 8 en-suite bathrooms, air-conditioned cabins and saloon, and warm water showers. The dive deck is shaded, with rinse hoses, DIN adaptors, nitrox available, and a camera station with a separate rinse for underwater cameras. A large sundeck and leisure deck round out the surface intervals, and snorkellers are welcome too.
