Whale sharks on your doorstep

Utila has one of the most reliably present whale shark populations anywhere in the world. During the two major seasons, whale sharks can be found almost every day less than 1 mile from the coast, close enough to fold whale shark safaris into dive trips and snorkel with them between dives.

Beyond the sharks, warm crystal waters, corals, turtles, pristine reefs, and sheer walls spread across 100 dive sites — with pilot whales, dolphins, rays, and eels among the marine life.
