Blue Tang Divers

Tucked inside the 5-star Hotel Iberostar Costa Dorada in Puerto Plata, Blue Tang Divers has been welcoming divers since 2002, when a team of experienced instructors first opened its doors. The center specialises in scuba diving and snorkelling excursions across the surrounding waters of Puerto Plata and Sosúa, with each trip shaped around the needs of the guests on board.

Courses and diving

A PADI Resort with three PADI instructors, Blue Tang Divers runs all PADI programs up to divemaster level, with confined training carried out in the hotel pool. Newcomers can begin with PADI Discover Scuba Diving — Feel the Magic of the Ocean, a one-day taster from USD 190. Divers typically gather at the dive shop at 8:20 AM for two-tank dives in Sosúa Bay, and cruise-ship arrivals can be accommodated too.

The surrounding waters are home to sharks, whales, turtles and ocean fish. With an onsite training pool and classroom, a house reef, a dive boat and staff speaking English, Spanish and Catalan, it suits everyone from first-timers to certified divers.
