Divinguru Nilaveli

Set right on Nilaveli Beach at the Divinguru Beach Resort, 12km north of Trincomalee on Sri Lanka's north-east coast, Divinguru Nilaveli is a PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Resort with a genuine pedigree. Formerly the Original Nilaveli Diving Centre by Hans, it holds the PADI Award for Outstanding Contribution of Diver Education (2018) and the PADI Green Star Award, and runs on a 100% Project Aware ethos. A team of 5 PADI Instructors keeps standards high.

Courses and diving

With 13 courses and activities on offer, there's a path for every level — from Fun Diving in Nilaveli/Trincomalee (from USD 96) to PADI Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, Freediver and Enriched Air (NITROX). Conservation-minded divers can join Dive Against Debris, while an onsite training pool and classroom make learning comfortable.

Dive sites include Welluore Rock, Pigeon Rocks, Mortar Rock, Knife Rock and Sithananne Reef, with sharks, turtles, rays and reef life among the encounters. Staff speak English, Spanish, French, German and more — ideal for international divers exploring Trincomalee.
