Saltstraumen carries the world's strongest tidal current, reaching up to 26 knots and creating the famous Maelstrom and its whirlpools. That mix of speed and marine life makes for extraordinary diving — but the strong currents and great depths make it demanding. This suits experienced divers with good buoyancy control who are comfortable in a dry suit.

As a PADI 5 Star Dive Resort with a PADI Instructor on hand, the centre offers PADI scuba diving and snorkelling, air fills, nitrox, equipment sales and rental, and conservation activities. Its waterfront base has a dive boat, retail shop, food and drinks, parking and free Wi-Fi, with staff speaking English, German, Swedish and Norwegian.
