Big Blu Mafia Island Dive Centre

On Mafia Island, Tanzania, Big Blu Mafia Island Dive Centre is a large, fully-equipped operation built for divers who want plenty of water time. The team runs both shore and boat trips to 16+ dive sites around Chloe Bay and beyond, using a fleet of traditional wooden dhows and a fibreglass boat — when the wind cooperates, you can even sail out to the sites.

Courses and what to expect

As a PADI 5 Star IDC, the centre offers a full range of recreational, specialty and professional courses. Discover Scuba Diving starts from USD 110, with pathways through PADI Scuba Diver, Open Water, Adventure Diver, Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver. A large wet-room keeps your hired or personal gear stored and hung throughout your stay, and rental equipment is well-maintained.

It suits everyone from first-timers to divers building professional credentials. Facilities include an onsite classroom, house reef, air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, onsite accommodation, and food and drinks. The waters here are known for sharks, whales, turtles and ocean fish.
