Wellington, New Zealand · Dive Center
from USD 24 / person
Plan this trip with AI →Dive HQ Wellington is the city's most active dive club, running five dives every week — a single dive on Thursday evenings from 5:45pm and two dives across the weekend from 9am. Between the bubbles, this is a community that likes to hang out, catch up, and gather for club dives, BBQs, quiz nights and other social activities. Private guided dives can also be arranged.
A temperate location with water temperatures of 15–17°C and summer visibility of 5–10m, Wellington calls for a 7mm wetsuit. Most dives are shore entries around 6–15m deep over rocky reefs draped in seaweed, sponges and anemones. A marine reserve along the south coast is the first choice, while the harbour offers seahorses, skate and other critters across sites like Island Bay, Owhiro Bay and Scorching Bay.
As a PADI 5 Star IDC with four instructors, the centre suits everyone from newcomers to aspiring pros. Open Water courses start every two weeks, alongside Advanced Open Water, Rescue, ReActivate, Enriched Air (Nitrox), Night and other specialties, plus year-round Divemaster training.
