Whether you're planning a first breath underwater or sharpening skills you already have, the PADI Dive Center runs a full ladder of training with 2 PADI Instructors on staff.

The course list covers the essentials and then some: PADI Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver, Deep Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy, and the ReActivate Scuba Refresher for divers shaking off a long break. Dive Against Debris, from USD 125, folds conservation straight into the dive day.

The water between Oeiras and Cascais rewards patient eyes — sea bream, starfish, scorpionfish, crabs, spider crabs and nudibranchs are regulars, with plenty more besides. The waterfront base has an onsite training pool, classroom, aquarium/deep pool, dive boat, retail shop and rental gear, and the team works in English, Spanish, French and Portuguese.
