Tucked into the heart of St Abbs Harbour, Subtidal Diving is part of the St Abbs Marine Station, a leading marine research centre on Scotland's Berwickshire coast. Here, world-class marine science meets hands-on diving education, with direct access to some of the UK's most spectacular underwater scenery.

Courses and diving

As a PADI Dive Center with 2 PADI instructors, Subtidal Diving offers a full range of PADI courses — from your very first Open Water Diver experience through to Divemaster certification. Beyond recreational training, the team also delivers scientific diving instruction led by HSE-qualified commercial and accredited scientific divers.

The waterfront base comes well equipped, with an onsite classroom, free Wi-Fi, a dive boat, onsite accommodation, an aquarium, parking, and food and drinks. Visitors can hire quality scuba and freediving gear, join conservation activities, and get up close with local marine life. With staff speaking English, German, and Hungarian, it suits curious divers who want their diving grounded in real marine research.
