About Aliikai Voyage

The Aliikai Voyage is a traditional Indonesian phinisi, a 40-metre wooden vessel built in 2005 that carries just 15 guests across some of the archipelago's most rewarding water. Boutique is the right word for her — seven cabins, five of them king-sized staterooms with air conditioning, and a crew that runs at nearly one-to-one with guests.

Where she sails

Itineraries range across the Gili Islands, Komodo National Park and West Nusa Tenggara, with routes running Sumbawa to Komodo, round trips out of Labuan Bajo, Ambon and Sorong. The dive sites read like a wish list: Manta Point, Gili Lawa Laut and Gili Lawa Darat, Sebayur Besar and Sebayur Kecil, Moyo Island and Saleh Bay, and further afield the Banda Sea, Gunung Api, Raja Ampat and the Dampier Strait.

The eight-night Sumbawa–Komodo voyage takes in roughly 14 dives and asks for Advanced Open Water with 20 logged dives. Between dives there are village visits and Komodo dragon expeditions ashore, and whale sharks and waterfalls along the way.

On board, free Nitrox, a shaded dive deck, two tenders and a dedicated camera station keep the diving easy. A naturalist guide, sun deck, air-conditioned saloon, kayaks and paddleboards fill the hours in between — and snorkellers are just as welcome.
