    Day 2

Amira arrives in the morning at the volcanic island of Sangeang. Here among other things, we encounter the dive site Bubble Reef with its wealth of black coral, hot springs and the rising gas bubbles from the sand will cause excitment! Dives at famous fish-rich sites like Castle Rock and Manta Valley make the divers´ heart beat faster. Here strong currents lead to spectacular dives with abundant fish life so that schooling fish, sharks or manta rays can almost be guaranteed. Komodo offers a wide range of diving experiences: high-voltage current dives, gentle drift dives, cliff dives along walls of colorfull corals, dives around monumental boulders, cave dives and swim-throughs, seamounts and pinnacles, and sandy slopes composed of both black and white sand. Komodo National Park is an exciting, rewarding, and sometimes very challenging place to dive. The National Park is situated in between the cooler Indian Ocean, South, and the warmer Banda Sea, North. As the tides change, great amounts of water are exchanged and funneled through the narrow straits between these islands where nutrient rich waters are brought up from the depths, providing a constant supply of food for the reefs and fishes here. All this action can bring in more agile hunters like pods of dolphins or the occasional orcas and whales. This ‘flow’ of water also functions as a temperature regulator, ensuring that corals are pristine and un-affected by ‘bleaching’ caused by above normal sea temperatures in other areas of the world.

    Day 2

This tour is known to include one of the best dive spots between the Moluccas and Raja Ampat. Diving among the history-rich Banda islands, as well as the coral reefs and micro organisms in Misool make this extensive tour a real adventure. On dive sites such as Air Manis and Laha one can always find a large number of exceptional and rare ocean creatures. In Paila Tiga there are beautiful reefs and plenty of fish life. Abundance of various types of fish, strong currents and fascinating under water habitats. Even for spoilt divers, this is a rare treat. Over many hundred years, the Banda islands were a place of bitter fighting associated with the rights and privileges of the at that time highly lucrative nutmeg trade. Nowadays only few people remember the bloody wars of past times. The real richness and beauty of these islands is now the magnificent marine life. One of the best Mandarin fish dives within the Banda Islands is a Lava stream with fast growing corals and fascinating under water landscapes with an abundance of fish life to be seen. After an extensive ocean crossing the Amira will reach one of the best dive sites of Raja Ampat. Around the island of Misool guests can expect to see a wealth of different fish life, beautiful reefs, extensive macro organisms, sharks and wobegongs, as well as dives in strong currents. Dive sites such as Fiabacet and the Gorgonian passage make every diver’s heart beat a little faster. Having the highest biodiversity overall this exceptional dive site has garnered worldwide fame and accolades. Naturally we also offer the possibility to do a short excursion on land to take in the historic forts build under Dutch occupation during the time of the nutmeg trade.

    Day 2

The tour leads from Sorong first to Waisai, central Raja Ampat. After a day in the area of the island of Kri, we will pass through Batanta and later reach the coral and macro paradise on the big island of Misool. Dive sites like Gorgonian Passage, Fiabacet and many others guarantee colorful diving adventures that you will never forget. Dive site Kri Island - Sardines is a firm favourite among the liveaboards of Raja Ampat. You won't find sardines here but the fish that you will find are almost as tightly packed. Sel Pele - is a very large bay located on the Western side of Waigeo Island, and is renowned as the best place in Raja Ampat for critter hunting. The bay has a large mouth with a small islet in its centre, and an inner bay with pearl farms that can be visited on request. Waigeo - Bird Wall is a reef on the South side of Waigeo Island and is a gentle slope bottoming out at around 30 metres. There are small bommies and rocky areas scattered all along the slope which provide the environment for an astonishing number of marine creatures. Jef Fam Group - The Jef Fam is a picturesque group of a dozen or so limestone islands and islets, lying directly West of Batanta Island. There are many channels with shallow, aquamarine inlets, bays, lagoons, beaches, cliffs and coves. They are a perfect setting from which to explore Raja Ampat's premiere hard coral dive sites. Manta Ridge - With a name like 'Manta Ridge' you'd really only be expecting to see one creature here, and you'd not be disappointed. Every dive at this popular cleaning station is blessed by the appearance of from 5 up to 30 manta rays. You can see manta rays at several places in the Raja Ampat islands, but this is the premiere place to see them reliably and in large numbers. The Passage - Between the islands of Wayilbatan and Walib in the Southern region of Raja Ampat, there is a channel over 30 metres wide featuring some of the finest benthic life you are ever likely to see. Fabiacet is known for the finest visibility. Diving at famous, fish-rich spots such as Castle Rock and Manta Valley will make the hearts of divers beat faster. Here strong currents will lead to spectacular dives with large amounts of fish. Fish shoals, sharks or mantas can almost be guaranteed here. South of Komodo is the island of Rinca with the Horseshoe Bay. Gorgeously overgrown steep walls and exceptional macro dives make Rinca another highlight of the tour. Cannibal Rock and Larry’s Yellow Wall of Texas are a treat even for the most sophisticated divers. On the way from Komodo to Maumere we will dive for a day among the offshore islands of Riung.

Waigeo - Bird Wall is a reef on the South side of Waigeo Island and is a gentle slope bottoming out at around 30 metres. There are small bommies and rocky areas scattered all along the slope which provide the environment for an astonishing number of marine creatures. Wofoh - Wofoh Island has a cluster of surface breaking points: 2 islands and 2 rocks. The reef below is wide enough to form at least 3 different dive sites and you will likely have the chance to see them all over the course of multiple dives. Yangelo - This island faces directly across from Gam Island and has beautiful and very healthy coral coverage.Yangelo Reef is situated at the mouth of a channel, with its shallows rising up to a beautiful hard coral garden. The deeper parts are home to numerous wobbegongs and probably the greatest abundance of schooling large fish in Raja Ampat. Boo Island - From the surface there are 2 rocks separated by a short stretch of water, beneath which there is a wealth of marine life waiting to be explored. The first thing you'll notice as you deflate your BCD and descend onto this vibrant reef, is a large swim through in shallow water which several divers can penetrate at the same time. Fabiacet - is really a breath of fresh air for all of us that wish we could always dive on reefs with fish life as prolific as nature intended. If you're a tired and burnt out crusty old diver, then don't sit this one out. Bring your nitrox certification because this exceptional Raja Ampat island is one site where you'll be wanting to stay down for as long as your air will last. Farondi - Located some 20 km east from Misool Island, the limestone cliffs of the islet of Farondi are a firm favourite on any Raja Ampat diving trip because of the unique landscapes that they offer. Tunnels, caverns and dives on sumptuously coloured walls are the order of the day here. Gamfi Damu - The currents can be strong around Gamfi Island and as they bring nutrients to the reef, you will see the soft corals at their best. Kaleidoscope - As a break from all that big stuff you may want to sample the colourful delights of this Misool Island dive site. Although you may have to look past a few mobula rays and Napoleon wrasse to get an unhindered view, what you will see is a reef which boasts an unbeatable range of colour. The Passage - Between the islands of Wayilbatan and Walib in the Southern region of Raja Ampat, there is a channel over 30 metres wide featuring some of the finest benthic life you are ever likely to see.

I went on a 10 day Amira Liveaboard trip from 5-15 Jan 2019. It was my first liveaboard, I was an inexperienced diver with only 10 dives logged, and was travelling alone. All these factors made me somewhat nervous going into the trip. However I need not have worried. Amira was excellent. The boat is spacious, comfortable, and well equipped. The staff stand out as a highlight, everyone on board is friendly, professional, and dedicated to making sure you have as good a trip as possible. Ronin and Nora, our two cruise directors, were outstanding, they were extremely knowledgeable in the area. Likewise, the dive guides were experts, it would have been nearly impossible to see a number of macro critters without their help. Two areas of improvement for me were firstly the dive sites themselves. Almost all the dives were on sloping walls off islands, which meant the dives started to feel repetitive near the end of the trip. It should be stressed that the diversity and beauty of Raja Ampat means this is hardly an issue. Second, most of the guests on our trip was one large group. It would have been good to know about this ahead of time, as the single group made it difficult at times to socialise, especially due to a language barrier. I would recommend asking the dynamic of the group at the time of booking. The dives themselves were beautiful, Raja Ampat is truly a paradise, and varied well in terms of difficulty. There is so much to see underwater, especially if you'd like to see coral gardens and macro life. The accommodation and food on board is very good, there is ample space on board. Overall the Amira was an excellent trip.

I rang up Diviac one day for a chat, not expecting too much as there is another Dive company that I have used for years. Diviac totally exceeded all my expectations. Not only was Manuel very knowledgeable, he was so attentive and quick with his responses, I really felt I was getting the 5* treatment. He also managed to negotiate a great deal for me. The trip I booked was onboard the Amira liveaboard at Raja Ampat Indonesia. It had been on my bucket list so such a long time. I had some last minute time off work so as you can imagine, it was hard to find availability. Nonetheless, Manuel found me this great trip. Amira was truly epic and everything was just fab. I had been on 3 other liveabords around Asia Pac before and the service and organisation on this one was worlds apart. Yes you pay for it but it it really worth it if you can afford it. We had 22 crew for 18 guests!!! I had booked a shared cabin but when I arrived Bruno the manager upgraded me to my own room since hey had a spare. The briefing was great and we soon settled in well. Overall the food was fantastic, (better than a 4/5* dive resort I was at in Bunaken the week before). The staff were very attentive, the guests were great, diving desk extremely well organised, diving equipment to a very high standard. Really cannot fault anything! And the diving was just world class. The dive guides were very hard working too. The only problem was my go pro broke !!! :-( But overall, great recommendation. Many of the guests were experienced divers and have been on many liveaboards and they too were very impressed with Amira. So thank you very for Diviac for arranging a holiday of a lifetime.
