Safety Briefing, Crew Introduction, Necessary Dive Paperwork, Cabin allocation and ship orientation will take place before departing the Harbour. During the journey to our first dive site for a check dive, please take this opportunity to familiarize yourselves with the vessel and make yourself comfortable. Dinner on board Please Note: This is a sample itinerary and nº of dives, dive sites, etc. may be subject to change due to weather conditions and other unforseeable factors
Three dives per day of minimum 1 hour duration One sunset- or night dive per day (unless we have to cover a serious amount of miles over night) Scenic rides through lagoons and coves in our tenders Trekking to breathtaking view points Visits of secluded perfect beaches Excursions to traditional villages Whale watching Water action such as wake boarding and water skiing Based upon that, here is a potential itinerary for an 11 nights / 12 days cruise from Serangan/Bali to Labuan Bajo/Flores. This is just to give you a general idea and is subject to change due to weather- and other conditions. Lombok Lombok - After an initial general dive briefing, we will do our check dive with you at an easy and protected dive site. Check dive in the sense of you checking your gear and weights, making sure the camera housings are proper sealed and our guides checking your buoyancy. No skill demonstrations are required. We will do three dives in total today at a fantastic sandy critter spot, closed to the famous Gili Islands. Though highly frequented areas, hardly anyone dives our favourite spot here as it is rather far away from these islands.
Moyo & Satonda Moyo & Satonda - In the morning we will do two dives at Moyo. Here you will find yourself at very fishy walls in pristine conditions. The luxury resort Amanwana just around the corner has done excellent conservation work here for more than a decade and you can clearly see the results. A fish soup spiked with Trevallie, Tuna, Sharks. Having Eagle and Manta Rays passing by is not uncommon. In the afternoon we will do a relaxed dive at the island of Satonda. Capped with a land excursion in the afternoon to a beautiful crater lake.
Sangeang Sangeang - At the active volcano of Sangeang you can expect superb black sand critter hunting. But it’s not only the critters like Nudibranchs, Ghostpipefish, Frogfish and Pygmy Seahorses that make the diving here so exciting, but also the stark contrast of colourful Black- and Whipcoral against the black sand. On the dive site ‘Bubble Reef’ you can see and feel the volcanic activity - gas bubble fields as well as hot water springs under water are the highlights here.
Banta Banta - Just outside the National Park of Komodo this island makes you feel as if you were already inside the park. We will spend the whole day in a great variety of dive sites. ‘Banta Wall’ also known as ‘The Rollercoaster’ is a spectacular wall - however, the timing with the currents and the swell is key to a safe and satisfying dive. And we get our timing right. GPS point is a reef more than half a mile north of Banta. Very fishy with the potential for Grey Reef Sharks and other big boys passing by. Again the timing here is key. One of our favourite spots here is our secret spot which happens to be a Manta cleaning station. For sunset we offer some trekking on a hill which will reward you with an epic view over the bay, the sun setting behind the vulcano of Sangeang. After Dinner we take you on a night dive on a sandy slope, where Stargazers will make an angry face at you.
Komodo - The North Komodo - The North - We arrive in the morning in the northern part of the famous Komodo National Park. And straight away hit the signature dive sites ‘Crystal Rock’ and ‘Castle Rock’. Sharks, Jacks, Fish Soup. Action fuelled by current. In the afternoon and at night two more world-class dives at famous site like ‘The Golden Passage’, ‘The Cauldron’ or ‘Lighthouse’. Komodo National Park diving at it’s best.
Komodo Central & Rinca Komodo Central & Rinca - Heading south through the NP we have a wide selection of top dive sites, like ‘Tatawa Besar’, ‘Tatawa Kecil’, ‘Batu Bolong’, ‘Manta Point’. Three excellent day dives based upon conditions and availability. To cap this great day we offer a night dive at Wai Nilu, which ranks within the Top 5 favorite night dive spots allover Indonesia of our Cruise Director.
Rinca Trekking Rinca Trekking, then heading for Nusa Kode - Trekking with Komodo dragons in the morning before it gets too hot in the sun. Expect to be eye in eye with the last dragons on this planet. A must when coming here. Local rangers take care of our safety. After this adventure we will be heading to the south of Rinca, also known as Nusa Kode or Horseshoe Bay. Some of the lushest diving Komodo National Park has to offer. During the months of May until October however, the waters are quite cold (down to 23°C) and the visibility is rather poor. You will be, however, rewarded with critter galore: Ambon Scorpionfish, Rhinopias, Frogfish, Wonderpus, Coconut Octopus paired with an overwhelming growth of soft and hard coral on the reefs. A very common sight at the beach are Komodo Dragons, Deer, Wild Boar and up in the trees you might spot a sea eagle.
Nusa Kode Nusa Kode - We offer three more day dives in the Horseshoe Bay. Some of our favourite dive sites here include: ‘Cannibal Rock’, ‘The Yellow Wall of Texas’, ‘Devil’s Corner’ and ‘Torpedo Alley’. In the afternoon we will leave this truly spectacular place and head back up north. For a night dive we will pull into the island of Pantar. Starry Night Octopus, Frogfish, rare Nudibranchs - this dive site never disappoints.
Komodo Central & North Komodo Central & North - Today we will spend another full day around the heart of Komodo National Park. World class dive sites are plenty and if they are too busy, we have our favourite secret spots as well.
Komodo Central Komodo Central - Depending on the flight schedule the day after, up to two more dives before lunch, then slowly heading back towards the port of Labuan Bajo. Stopover at a perfect beach in the afternoon.
Unfortunately our trip has come to an end and we have to say goodbye, but we hope to see you again soon!

The itinerary varies slightly between each cruise depending on weather conditions, currents, visibility and diving. Komodo Park is well known for its consistent currents and is one of the greatest dive destinations, and one of the most diverse and rich marine environments in the world. These small islands fringed with sandy beaches are home of the famous Komodo dragon that you may patrolling the beach or see you from viewing a rock. The coral reefs in the north of the park are rich with colorful combination of hard and soft corals. Be delighted with the schools of anthias , wrasses , angelfish majestic , and predators like wide -reef sharks , tunas , and giant – trevallies. In the South, soft corals colors explode in variety and intensity together with numerous critters subjects. Some of the species that can be spotted: Barracudas, Surgeonfishes, Bumphead parrot fishes, Trevallies and giant trevallies, spafefishes. Napoleon wrasse, wobbegon, tunas, bonitos, manta rays, mobulas, - Seahorse, frogfish, leaf fish, scorpionfish . - Black corals forests, gorgonian fields, soft corals , gorgonian fields Komodo offers a wide-range of diving experiences: high voltage current dives, drift dives gentle, colorful walls dives along drop offs, monumental boulders , seamounts , pinnacles and sandy slopes . You can also see manta rays , turtles , and sometime even whale sharks . Unspoiled, remote, captivating and accessible Seven Seas, the 2 dozen islands East of Flores are now recognized as one of Asia's top ten dive destinations In Maumere the waters are relatively calm and the current is much milder than the neighbouring Komodo islands To the East there are numerous dive sites dotted along the coast. These are muck diving sites at their best, there are frogfish and eels as well as the well named wonderpuss octopus Dive sites Batu Balong is a huge pinnacle that reaches a depth of 250 feet (75 m), and is therefore primarily a wall dive in pristine conditions and with exceptionally strong currents. Huge Napoleon Wrasse and Oceanic Whitetip sharks can be seen in this site. Manta Alley consists mainly of several channels that attract manta rays. The rocks are lined with bright orange soft corals, which are now home to a wide variety of invertebrates including harlequin shrimp. The channels lie in a depth of 60 feet (18 m), where you can spot Giant Trevallies, Barracuda, and black spotted Ribbontail Ray. Cannibal Rock is one of the best dive sites in Komodo. It is a beautiful site with green turtles, pygmy seahorses on purple gorgonian fans, blue anemones and incredible shoals of fusiliers. Makasser Reef (Manta Point) is definitely the place to go to spot Mantas, although it is easier to see them at the high tide and in strong current condition. In this strange place, that looks poor of species at first glance you can actually meet sea turtle, white or black tip sharks and huge trevallies. Recently bamboo sharks, uncommon in this area, have been spotted here. In Lembata we have a fantastic site claimed to be the latest and greatest muck diving area recently discovered in this region. We have found the rare and sought after Rhinopias or "weedy" scorpionfish. Also numerous other rare and unusual forms of marine life are found here, such as frog fish and various species of octopus South Pangah Balang is a good choice if you would like to expand on the macro and see some sharks too. There are some reef sharks to be seen patrolling the area and if you are lucky you might spot the odd Eagle Ray as well. The sponges and corals here are also well worth investigating as they usually have a host of critters living in them
Maumere Bay - Our last day before disembarkation we will spend at a beautifully quiet and protected anchorage in the bay of Maumere. In the morning we offer you a wreck dive (‘Wodong Wreck’) that turns in the shallows into a critter heaven: Pipehorses, Ghostpipefish, Nudibranchs. A beautiful dive with no time limit to finish this cruise. If your flight schedule permits our guides will happy take you on a second dive as well. The afternoon we spend at this anchorage, filled with some in-water fun such as wake boarding and waterskiing and the famous Floating Bar.
Unfortunately our trip has come to an end and we have to say goodbye, but we hope to see you again soon!

Critter hunting at it’s best: Seahorses, different species of Rhinopias, sometimes even side by side, frogfish, all sorts of cephalopods. Truly a world class dive spot.
Lembata South Lembata South - Time for some action packed diving in the morning. We have two great dive sites here. One of them is a secret cavern which is home to several White Tip Reef Sharks. The other one, ‘Pulau Suangi’ is a rock, exposed to the open ocean. Stunning coral growth on the reef, very good fish life, but don’t forget to look out in the blue as we’ve often got pelagic fish passing by. In the afternoon we offer a visit to the traditional whaling village of Lamalera. The people of this village are fundamental animists and are living their ancient traditions until today in our modern world. Alternatively we offer a dive for you, of course. We finish this day with a night dive at an excellent secret spot of ours, ‘The Corner Shop’ - we named it like that because it has a little something of everything.
Kambing & Pantar Kambing & Pantar - Facing the Savu Sea the southern coast of Pantar and Pulau Kambing are exposed to strong upwellings and swells full of nutrition from the deep. Hence the marine life here is mind boggling with potential for large pelagics. Besides the known sites around Pulau Kambing our favourites here are our secret spots.
Beangabang Beangabang - A protected bay which is said to have a better macro life than the famous Lembeh Strait. Be prepared for some cold water upwellings which will not stop you from having extended bottom times if you are a critter lover. No time limit here on the night dive. An excerpt of the spotting list from 1 (one!) dive we recently did there: Wonderpus, Blue Ring Octopus, Coconut Octopus, Pegasus, Frogfish, Rhinopias, Ambon Scorpionfish, Robust Ghostpipefish, Roughsnout Ghostpipefish, Thorny Seahorse, Melibe…..
Pura & Alor Pura & Alor - Time for some action packed current drift dives with potential for big stuff. All our dives are going to be either slope or wall dives. We have spotted here in the past: Oceanic Sunfish, Big Dogtooth Tuna and Thresher Sharks. Popular dive sites here: School’s Out, Anemone City, The Great Wall of Pantar
Kalabahi Bay Kalabahi Bay - Today we spent all day hunting critters in the protected bay of Alors capital Kalabahi. With a little bit of luck our dive guides might show you the ‘Holy Grail of Critter Hunters’, the Rhinopias. Other than that you can expect: Frogfish, Ghostpipefish, all sorts of cephalopods and Crustaceans as well as colourful Nudibranchs. Popular dive sites here: Mucky Mosque, Black Rhino, Pertamina Pier
North Alor North Alor - Before we leave the area around Alor to head back west again, we will offer you three more dives here. Either wide-angle wall and slope dives or some more macro dives. Maybe a blend of both. We make this depending on the preferences of our guests.
Lembata & Komba Lembata & Komba - We will do three dives in daytime. Either at a spot we call ‘The Shark Wall’ or alternatively at a fantastic critter spot. This depends on the preferences of the group. In the afternoon we will head north towards the active vulcano of Komba, which erupts every 15 to 20 minutes. A spectacular display of nature’s power and free fireworks for us.
Maumere Bay Maumere Bay - Our last day before disembarkation we will spend at a beautifully quiet and protected anchorage in the bay of Maumere.

3 dives per day of minimum 1 hour duration One sunset- or night dive per day (unless we have to cover a serious amount of miles over night) Scenic rides through lagoons and coves in our tenders Trekking to breathtaking view points Visits of secluded perfect beaches Excursions to traditional villages Whale watching Water action such as wake boarding and water skiing East Komodo National Park East Komodo National Park - After an initial general dive briefing, we will do our check dive with you at an easy and protected dive site. Check dive in the sense of you checking your gear and weights, making sure the camera housings are proper sealed and our guides checking your buoyancy. No skill demonstrations are required. Afterwards we will offer two more dives right in the center of Komodo National Park.
Nusa Kode & Pantar Nusa Kode & Pantar - We offer three more day dives in the Horseshoe Bay.
Komodo Central Komodo Central - Working our way back up north, we’ve got a few secret spots to offer We may go instead for some of the popular highlights if the conditions allow us to do so.
Komodo North Komodo North - Once more we will hit the signature dive sites of the north in the morning. Afterwards continue our journey eastwards for some relaxed diving in the afternoon and night.
Banta Banta - Just outside the National Park of Komodo this island makes you feel as if you were still inside the park.
Sangeang Sangeang - At the active vulcano of Sangeang you can expect superb black sand critter hunting.
Bima Bima - We conclude this cruise with two excellent critter hunting dives in the bay of Bima. You can expect world class macro life here. Pipehorses, Wonderpus, Ghostpipefish, Seahorses, all sorts of Crustaceans. Our dive guides will spoil those who appreciate ‘The Unusual Suspects’. Which happens to be our favourite dive site here as well.
Unfortunately our trip has come to an end and we have to say goodbye, but we hope to see you again soon!

All dives are steep wall dives. The Dutch seafarers named this island group the Schildpad Islands as we have not only find nesting grounds but also a healthy population of sea turtles here. The chances to have close encounters with whales (Blue Whales, Sperm Whales, Pilot Whales and others) are very good whilst cruising the Banda Sea. Gunung Api Gunung Api - Also referred to as one of the two Snake Islands in the Banda Sea. Be prepared to meet dozens of sea snakes. In a single dive. Besides snakes we have seen Silvertip Sharks and Hammerheads here. Usually the waters around here are gin clear so make sure you look out into the blue not to miss something big passing by. Reong Reong, a small island just off the coast of Wetar. Very fishy wall diving with small caverns and overhangs in which nurse sharks like to chill out during the day. In the shallows we find a hard coral heaven that will also delight every snorkeler. Be on the look out for big Grey Reef Sharks patrolling their reefs. Alor Alor - Today we fill with an equal part of blue water wide angle dives and some macro critter delights. We start in the north of Alor with some relaxed wall diving, to move for the afternoon and night dive into the bay of Kalabahi. With a little bit of luck our dive guides might show you the ‘Holy Grail of Critter Hunters’, the Rhinopias, already on your first day of diving. Even whales are sometimes seen during the dives.
Kalabahi Bay Kalabahi Bay - We finish this cruise with the finest muck diving at our favourite secret spots in the bay of Kalabahi. Two dives in the morning. In the afternoon we fill the diving gap of the mandatory 18 h break before flying with a land excursion to visit a traditional village of the indigenous people of Alor, the Kabui tribe. Dinner is on board

This is just to give you a general idea and is subject to change due to weather- and other conditions. Ambon Ambon - After an initial general dive briefing, we will do our check dive with you at an easy and protected dive site. Check dive in the sense of you checking your gear and weights, making sure the camera housings are proper sealed and our guides checking your buoyancy. No skill demonstrations are required. We will thereafter offer two more dives in the bay of Ambon. One in the afternoon and one for sunset. All of these days will be muck dives. World class critter hunting. That’s what Ambon is famous for. Rhinopias, Frogfish, Ghostpipefish, Harlequin Shrimps and if you are really lucky: the Psychedelic Frogfish that has been very recently found here again.
Nusa Laut Nusa Laut - In the early morning we will arrive at the island of Nusa Laut, which is a great example for how active conservation by the local community can not only preserve the reefs but actually make them even better. We see here for many years a proper growth in biomass. We have four spectacular dive sites here, either wall or slope diving. Great variety of reef fish as well as large schools of jacks. Bumphead Parrotfish like to pass by here also. A lot of macro life can be found in the wall as well.
Banda Islands Banda Islands - The famous Spice Islands, the island group around Banda Neira, which is also historically very interesting. Wars were fought over these islands by colonial powers as these islands used to be the only islands in the world were nutmeg grew. A historical walk through the town of Banda Neira with it’s museum and two forts is a must. An interesting option for ambitious challenge seekers is to climb the vulcano Gunung Api, which raises ‘only’ 600 m above sea level. Which in the tropics however turns into a strenuous climb. The diving here is very diverse and spectacular. As these volcanic islands raise up to the surface surrounded by deep sea water, the chances for sightings of large pelagics are very good. In the past we’ve often encountered schooling hammerheads here. A dive site called ‘Lava Flow’ is one of the most pristine hard coral reefs you will ever see. After the last eruption of Gunung Api in 1988 a flow of lava made it’s way down into the ocean and destroyed the whole reef. What has grown back ever since will boggle your mind. In the harbour of Banda Neira we’ve got a beautiful Mandarin Fish dive waiting for you. Other highlights include: ‘The Cathedral’, ‘Batu Kapal’ and ‘Karang Hatta’.
Koon & Madorang Koon & Madorang - At the south-eastern tip of Seram there is a little island named Koon. It’s basically three dive sites in one, performing best always at one spot, depending on the current. The name of the site says it all: ‘Too Many Fish’. You will have a hard time to focus on what to look at. A fish soup of Fusiliers and Surgeonfish is divided by hunting Giant Trevallies and Jacks, enormous Giant Groupers are all of a sudden looking at you whilst a school of hundreds of Batfish is passing by. Mobula and Manta rays might fly by. Leopard Sharks like to relax in overhangs of the wall on the north side. Macro life is plenty as well. Hairy Shrimp, Pygmie Seahorses, Tiny Frogfish, Robust Ghostpipefish. This dive site literally has it all. After two dives in before lunch we will head north towards Raja Ampat whilst on the way we will do a wall dive along the pretty walls of Madorang.
Misool Misool - Coming into Raja Ampat from the south, we start our diving here around the islands of SE Misool. The first dive site we reach is called ‘Magic Mountain’. Yes. It is magic. Situated in a ‘No-Take-Zone’, which was ten years ago established by our friends of the Misool Eco Resort, the amount of biomass is just off the scale. Blacktip, Whitetip and Grey Reef Sharks. Napoleon Wrasses. Stonefish. Wobbegong Sharks. Barracudas. Not to forget about the Mantas who come in to get cleaned. You will have a hard time focussing on a particular scene on this reef. It’s happening everywhere. Magic. We will offer two more day dives around the eastern part of the island of Boo. One of the signature dive sites of this area is ‘Boo Windows’ - a spectacular swim through gave the dive site it’s fame, the marine life surrounding it will keep us busy watching during the whole dive. Another great dive site in this area is ‘Hidung Boo’ where you might sea the biggest sea fans you’ve ever seen in your life.
Misool - Fiabatjet Misool - Fiabatjet - Right in the heart of the No-Take-Zone. ‘Tank Rock’, ‘Nudi Rock’ & ‘Whale Rock’ are the famous and commonly dived sites here. There is five more dive sites in the very proximity which are as good, if not even better. We prefer to go a bit off the beaten track here. The reefs are covered in soft coral in all colours you can imagine. Surrounded by most colourful reef fish. More Fusiliers than one could possibly count. Jacks, Trevallies, Barracudas, Sharks. And if you happen to dive here on a day with bad visibility. Just face the reef. It’s packed with macro life. Several species of Pygmy Seahorses, Nudibranchs, tiny Crustaceans - every niche in these reefs is filled with life.
Misool - Farondi Misool - Farondi - This is a very exciting part of SE Misool. A lot of life and colours. Combined with a very special topography. Caverns, caves, swim thru’s. And if you happen to hit this area at the right time (which changes every season) you will find yourself amidst a bloom of small silvery fish, Silversides, and the hunters are just nearby: Mobula Rays. In the dozens. There’s four popular dive sites here. We’ve got another six spots that are hardly ever dived. A nice big variety to pick and choose from.
Dampier Strait Dampier Strait - The dive- and snorkel sites in the Dampier Strait stand for action packed dives in our favourite kind of fish soup - the one that is still alive and surrounds us in the water. Encounters with Manta Rays are very common here. The reef of the island of Kri is the current world record holder with the highest number of fish species ever counted by a scientist in a single dive - Dr. Gerry Allen came up with 374 different fish species counted. Again: in one single dive. Dive sites here are exposed to current so it’s all about the right timing to get the most out of it. And we know how to time it here. Popular dive sites here: ‘Kap Kri’, ‘Chicken’, ‘Sardine’, ‘Mike’s Point’ and ‘Blu Majik’.
Dampier Dampier - Towards the end of the week and the end of the cruise for some other liveaboards it can get a bit busy here. We don’t like that and therefore move away to some sites less dived yet very attractive. A WW 2 plane wreck. ‘Larry’s Promise’. Wruzwarez Slope. There is many possibilities. And to conclude our in-water activities we aim to snorkel with feeding Mantas. On our way back our crew will keep an eye out onto the ocean for you and alert you in time for whale and dolphin encounters. Which are quite common here. As long as you are on the watch out. and we are… Two dives in the morning. In the afternoon we fill the diving gap of the mandatory 18 h break before flying with a land excursion to visit a traditional village of the indigenous people of Alor, the Kabui tribe. Dinner is on board
Unfortunately our trip has come to an end and we have to say goodbye, but we hope to see you again soon!

Dinner on board Please Note: This is a sample itinerary and nº of dives, dive sites, etc. may be subject to change due to weather conditions and other unforseeable factors
3 dives per day of minimum 1 hour duration One sunset- or night dive per day (unless we have to cover a serious amount of miles over night) Scenic rides through lagoons and coves in our tenders Trekking to breathtaking view points Visits of secluded perfect beaches Excursions to traditional villages Whale watching Water action such as wake boarding and water skiing Based upon that, here is a potential itinerary for an 10 nights / 11 days cruise from Ambon to Kupang. This is just to give you a general idea and is subject to change due to weather- and other conditions. Popular dive sites are named. We do however have our secret spots as well, which you will learn about during the cruise. Ambon - After an initial general dive briefing, we will do our check dive with you at an easy and protected dive site.
Lucipara Lucipara - A group of seven paradise islands in the middle of the Banda Sea.
Other than that you can expect: Frogfish, Ghostpipefish, all sorts of cephalopods and Crustaceans as well as colourful Nudibranchs. Popular dive sites here: Mucky Mosque, Black Rhino, Pertamina Pier
Alor / Pura Alor / Pura - Time for some action packed current drift dives with potential for big stuff. All our dives are going to be either slope or wall dives. We have spotted here in the past: Oceanic Sunfish, Big Dogtooth Tuna and Thresher Sharks. Popular dive sites here: School’s Out, Anemone City, The Great Wall of Pantar
Beangabang Beangabang - A protected bay which is said to have a better macro life than the famous Lembeh Strait. Be prepared for some cold water upwellings which will not stop you from having extended bottom times if you are a critter lover. No time limit here on the night dive.
Pantar Selatan / Kambing Pantar Selatan / Kambing - Facing the Savu Sea the southern coast of Pantar and Pulau Kambing are exposed to strong upwellings and swells full of nutrition from the deep. Hence the marine life here is mind boggling with potential for large pelagics. Besides the known sites around Pulau Kambing our favourites here are our secret spots. Alor Central - Relocating the ship into the Marine Protected Area around Alor we once more will go for some action packed drift dives. In this region you never know what shows up next. Even whales are sometimes seen during the dives.
Unfortunately our trip has come to an end and we have to say goodbye, but we hope to see you again soon!

3 dives per day of minimum 1 hour duration One sunset- or night dive per day (unless we have to cover a serious amount of miles over night) Scenic rides through lagoons and coves in our tenders Trekking to breathtaking view points Visits of secluded perfect beaches Excursions to traditional villages Whale watching Water action such as wake boarding and water skiing Raja Ampat The perfect way to explore this amazing dive area. Allowing divers to visit remote and unspoiled areas of Indonesia. Synonymous with stunning islets, crystal clear water and beautiful white sand beaches Raja Ampat is one of Indonesia's most beautiful regions. scuba diving here is sure to delight all divers. It was declared the most biodiverse place in the world in 2002. The marine park area is home to over a thousand different species of fish and more than five hundred different corals. Much of the diving in Raja Ampat is in reefs amongst the spread of tiny islands, so a dive cruise suits visiting this area perfectly. These reefs are glorious with an array of colours and unique fish of all shapes and sizes. The visibility can be slightly variable but normally around 25-30 meters is the norm. There are plenty of sharks to be seen in Raja Ampat from white and black tipped reef sharks to whale sharks and even some rarer ones such as wobbegong shark. Wobbegong sharks are fascinating bottom dwelling sharks, flat with a long tail and what looks like a beard on their mouth they really are a photographer’s dream. Mantas are also frequent visitors to Raja Ampat and they can be seen in sizeable groups passing over the reefs. Turtles can often be seen grazing on the coral reef and in some areas pods of dolphins can also pop by to delight divers. There are a wide variety of Raja Amat liveaboards to suit all budgets. From 5 day liveaboard tours to luxury liveaboard vessels offering 2 week dive trips, there is something for everyone. Triton Bay Saruenus Island, The island offers 4 main dive sites, each with quite different characteristics due to how the current acts upon it. All around the rocky outcrops, you will see shoals of all sorts of fish, including anthias, damsels and fusiliers as well as snappers and sweetlips. The rocks are largely covered by soft corals, and provide many tucked-away corners for macro species to hide, including the very rare pygmy seahorse and many species of nudibranchs and shrimp. Another must-see site on Saruenus Island is Aquarium. This is a drift dive along a wall, and is full of soft coral bommies of beautiful oranges and forest greens. Bo’s Rainbow This is also a rocky site, encrusted with seemingly endless gardens of soft corals attracting many large schools of fish. Here you will notice that the more common species, such as fusiliers and damsels, will very often be showing off different shades of colours to what one might normally expect. Namatote Wall,Visibility along this wall dive is sometimes slightly limited due to the current’s shifting nature, but what is lost in visibility is more than made up for by overwhelming numbers of macro species. For those who are not so fond of muck sites, this is an excellent alternative for capturing those sought-after critters, such as nudibranchs, gobies and shrimp. Many liveaboard itineraries in the Triton Bay area will include exploratory dives.
After the morning dive here we will show you some of our secret spots. Dinner is on board You can always go for a visit to the town

This itinerary will let you not only dive the world famous Misool, south of the Raja Ampat, but also explore West Papua further south in Triton Bay. From the tropical rain forests to the labyrinth islands Misool is a magical place The reefs are colored with soft corals and sea fans and the water column is teeming with fish life. As far as critters go, you’ll find everything from pygmy seahorses to oceanic mantas in Misool. Some of Misool’s most sought after macro life includes candy crabs, a large variety of nudibranchs and harlequin shrimp. The guides with their keen eyes seem to spot them without a problem, although most of the creatures are well camouflaged. You won’t see many sharks around, but there are some species worth looking for. The resident tassled wobbegong sharks can be regularly found on some dive sites This is also the only place you can find the endemic Raja Ampat epaulette shark, known as the “walking shark”. This nocturnal species is known for “walking” along the reef using its pectoral fins – you won’t see it swimming, but if you disturb it, it will “run” away. The beauty of its amazing soft corals that stick out to the surface is definitely one of the major marine attractions in Triton Bay. Black coral forests, groups of swetlips everywhere, lot of groupers and other fishes, amazing soft corals up to the surface, impressive critters... Triton Bay is famous for the good chance to encounter whale sharks on “bagan”—the fishing platforms where these giants come to visit from time to time. An amazing ride with the dinghies into the channels between forest covered quartz islets will allow us to hear and see cacatoes and hornbills while turtles and rays are into just about 2 meters of water. We will also observe an impressive display of primitive rock arts on a cliff
Depending on the flight schedule the day after, up to two more dives before lunch, then slowly heading back towards Sorong.
Unfortunately our trip has come to an end and we have to say goodbye, but we hope to see you again soon!

Check dive in the sense of you checking your gear and weights, making sure the camera housings are proper sealed and our guides checking your buoyancy. No skill demonstrations are required. We will offer three easy dives to start with close to the Dampier Strait. But easy don’t mean not attractive. You will get a very good impression what lies ahead of you the next few days: the biggest marine biodiversity on this planet.
Misool - Fiabatjet Misool - Fiabatjet. - Right in the heart of the No-Take-Zone.
Misool - Boo Misool - Boo - The first dive site today is called ‘Magic Mountain’.
Koon Koon - At the south-eastern tip of Seram there is a little island named Koon.
The chances to have close encounters with whales (Blue Whales, Sperm Whales, Pilot Whales and others) are very good whilst cruising the Banda Sea.
Ambon Bay Ambon Bay - We will offer two more dives in the bay of Ambon. Both of these dives will be muck dives. World class critter hunting. That’s what Ambon is famous for. Rhinopias, Frogfish, Ghostpipefish, Harlequin Shrimps and if you are really lucky: the Psychedelic Frogfish that has been very recently found here again.

After the morning dive we will show you some of our secret spots. Dinner is on board You can always go for a visit to the town
Unfortunately our trip has come to an end and we have to say goodbye, but we hope to see you again soon!

★ 5 · Erik Horne · 2023-04-21We had a fantastic experience aboard the Samambaia. The boat was well laid out and it was easy to get to all of the amenities. The travel was always comfortable, the food was good and plentiful and the cabins were wonderful. Our dive guide always explained in detail how we would be diving the site and there was never more than four divers with each divemaster. It was the best liveaboard we have ever been on!!
★ 5 · Annabelle Roux · 2018-09-06I was on the East Flores and Alor 11 days itinerary which offers a combination of reef and muck diving. Except for 2 days, there was no other liveaboard in sight which made this trip even more relaxing. A highlight was the volcano on Komba island with a unique scenery. The boat and cabins are impeccable. The service is outstanding - the staff seems to always anticipate what you need. The food is fresh and healthy. The dive briefings were clear and concise - we always knew what to expect in terms of current and marine life. Serge is extremely professional and was attentive to all the guests’ requests. A very safe and well-run organization.
★ 5 · Doug Schumacher · 2018-03-07Serge (cruise director) and crew basically run a 5-star resort on the water. The whole experience was incredible from the crew, to the food, to the diving. Nearly everything is taken care of for you while you eat, dive, relax, and repeat for the course of your liveaboard. Safety is the top priority with thorough dive briefings involving in-time currents, detailed dive site drawings, potential hazards and emergency actions, and of course what is likely to be seen in each area. They went above and beyond when I came down with a sinus infection that sat me out for a couple of dive days. Cabins and facilities are always immaculately clean and tidy, and a nice variety of food was supplied by the cooking staff. Always kept us guessing what was next to be served. The top deck was always at least partially shaded when the sun was out with plenty of chairs to relax in. A separate camera room, salt and fresh water tanks, clothing dry lines, and spacious prep areas were also pluses. It was definitely a sad day when the finer boats headed away from the Samambaia to take us back to the mainland! I'm already looking into booking another trip with the Samambaia team.
