The black volcanic sand makes for some very colourful diving in this area. In In Komodo your dream will come true. You will spot many wonderful creatures you may have never seen before in your life, like the hobbit worm or a rhynopia, a lady bug or skeleton shrimp. Komodo is not only famous for it macro life, there is an abundance of fish and corals due to its mineral rich waters. Don’t be surprised to see some beautiful pelagic, like sharks or mantas. On the north side of Komodo, the water is generally warm and sparkling blue, as you might expect in such tropical latitudes. Underwater terrain consist of drop-offs, pinnacles, fringing reefs and shallow coral gardens. Mantas, lots of schooling fish, reef sharks, turtles, a cornocopia of macro subjects and some "brisk" currents. Because of the currents, Komodo is generally not suitable for beginners. Komodo also attracts many divers eager to see a Komodo Dragon, the world's largest lizard, in the wild. This unique carnivore is found nowhere else in the world. North Komodo is warmer and clearer than the South, and delivers what can be considered typical Indo-Pacific reef diving. The north has its share of big-fish sites and macro sites. Castle Rock is a favorite submerged pinnacle, full of trevally, mackerel, wide-angle and macro subjects. Even bottlenose dolphins have been known to visit the site. Another submerged pinnacle, called Hard-To-Find reef, has many massive school of fish, reef sharks, and turtles. On these kinds of sites, you often don't need to swim far, but simply park yourself and watch the show.
It’s another 4 dive day, this time off Gili Banta, an island between Sumbawa and Komodo. In the morning you’ll dive GPS point, Highway to Heaven, and Small World. GPS Point and Highway to Heaven are challenging dives as currents can be strong, but the payoff is the possibility of seeing sharks, schools of barracuda, dogtooth tuna and more larger predators. Between dives you’ll have the chance to trek to the highest point of Gili Lawa Laut to see the gorgeous views over the Komodo-Flores channel.
Today you’ll be diving off Komodo Island where currents can be quite strong. Dives must be timed in accordance with tides and weather conditions so there are a number of dive sites you may visit. Takat Makassar Reef, Batu Bolong and Tatawa Kecil are all stunning dives with soft and hard corals. You’ll have the chance to see white and black tip reef sharks, manta rays, turtles, giant trevally, snapper in various environments, from shallow reefs to canyons and caves. Dive at night at the mini wall at Pulau Sebayur where you should Look for leaffish, ghost pipefish and nudibranchs.
Get up early and dive at Sebayur Besar and then Batu Tengah. Batu Tengah is right in the middle of the Komodo National Park and slopes into a stunning coral garden. Divers often see turtles, cuttlefish, white tip reef sharks and large groups of Napoleon wrasse and snapper here. In the afternoon, the outgoing group visit island of Rinca to meet Komodo dragons up close and personal, while the group staying for the longer cruise carry on to a night dive in Wainilu.

Safety Briefing, Crew Introduction, Necessary Dive Paperwork, Cabin allocation and ship orientation will take place before departing the Harbour. During the journey to our first dive site for a check dive, please take this opportunity to familiarize yourselves with the vessel and make yourself comfortable. Sample itinerary, order of dive areas visited may change driven by local regulation, e.g. Waisai area might be visited first Please Note: This is a sample itinerary and nº of dives, dive sites, etc. may be subject to change due to weather conditions and other unforseeable factors
The first two dives of the day are at Manta Sandy, well-known to divers as it is one of the most consistent spots for finding congregating mantas. It is easy to spend a whole dive observing these majestic animals as they somersault through the water while being cleaned by several species of wrasse and even butterfly fish. They also come to feed on plankton carried along by the currents, so can be seen on the surface as well. With a bit of luck you’ll witness the unforgettable sight of a ”manta train”, where half a dozen or more mantas glide around feeding. Your afternoon and night dives are at Arborek Jetty. In the shallows the jetty posts are covered in soft corals and further down you’re likely to see pipefish and cuttlefish. Watch local children jumping off the jetty and smiling for your cameras and even join in the fun! On the reef giant clams nestle in the pulsing soft corals and at search for blue ringed octopus, hermit crabs, skeleton shrimp and flatworms. At night you might even be able to hear toadfish croaking. Between dives you will have the chance to visit the village on Arborek Island to discover the very traditional way of life these island people live. Bring along some little presents like writing or colouring supplies or hair accessories for the kids of the village and you’ll see them light with smiles like you’ve never seen before.
Dive Gam or Penemu areas with many extraordinary sites. Between Gam and Yanggelo Islands, Citrus Ridge offers gorgeous white sand contrasting the yellow and orange corals that teem with glassfish, sweetlips and batfish. Moving on to Takat Yanggelo (north & south) you’ll see similar species as well as huge schools of snappers, barracuda and fusiliers. Dive with black and white tip sharks at Wobbegong and also have a search for the tricky blue ringed octopus. Still between the 2 islands, Mangrove Ridge is a ridge extending out from Yanggelo covered in black corals and huge sea fans. Explore the shallows of the mangroves where many species of juvenile fish, cardinal fish and archerfish hide in the roots of the trees. You’ll then head to Penemu, an island west of Waigeo with a selection of dives sites, the most famous being Melissa’s Garden. Shallow hard coral reefs here are home to hundreds of anthias dance and also sea snakes. The long, submerged seamount at Takat Penemu has a beautiful coral garden sloping to where where schools of fish hang out in the currents. Have a peek inside the large cup corals where Wobbegong sharks like to sleep, and visit Penemu Wall, My Reef and Harto’s Reef for more incredible sights. At Penemu Island you will also have the chance to stop and climb to the highest point of the island to admire the entire lagoon from above.
The Dampier Strait, located between Waigeo and Batanta Islands is known to have some of the most nutrient-rich and spectacular diving in Raja Ampat. The currents passing through the strait make for the perfect diving situation and you can expect to see incredible corals housing just about every species of fish as well as prized macro subjects like the recently discovered Pontohi pygmy seahorse. Sardine Reef is a popular dive spot, which ironically isn’t home to any sardines. However, you will see a stunning reef covered in huge sea fans, soft corals, enormous orange elephant ear sponges and schools of fusiliers, surgeonfish, trevallies, rainbow runners, sweetlips and bannerfish. In fact, at this site the fish are so abundant you may hear the unique sound of “fish thunder” - the surprisingly loud sound of a large number of fish moving in synchronisity. Other dives in Dampier Strait include Chicken Reef, Kerupiar Island and Friwin Bonda. Dives will also include Cape Kri, which holds the impressive record of 374 fish species identified during one 90-minute dive, Otdima Reef and Blue Magic. This is a submerged seamount where you may encounter giant manta rays. Saonek Jetty or Jembeser Jetty are ideal for night dives; you’ll have the chance to see bobtail squid, octopus, stargazers, ghost pipefish, toadfish and lots of nudibranchs at these sites.
Depending on the weather conditions and flight times the next day, the last full day of the cruise will include 1 or 2 dives at one of the above sites. After the dives you’ll cruise back to Sorong.
Unfortunately our trip has come to an end and we have to say goodbye, but we hope to see you again soon!

Liveaboard boats are the only way to experience the Forgotten Islands. There are endless diving opportunities and some islands and dive sites are so remote you will wonder if anyone has ever seen what you are seeing. The visibility in the Forgotten Islands is generally excellent, especially around the islands formed by volcanic activity. Sites can be shallow up to over 40 metres deep Some of the most famous dive sites you will visit are Nil Desperandum, Wetar, Nunukae, Leti, Babar, Pantar, Palu and Nusa Laut. We are also open to creating a tailor-made itinerary so you get to do the type of diving you love most. You’ll have the chance to dive rugged rocky outcrops, spectacular coral reefs and walls with hard and soft corals, black sands where smaller creatures bury themselves and of course huge pelagic species like white and black tip reef sharks, hammerheads, barracuda, majestic manta rays and gigantic groupers. There is no shortage of sea life to be explored around the Forgotten Islands and you will get to see more than you could ever imagine Snapper, bumphead, blunthead parrotfish, turtles, sharks, moray eels, dog-toothed tuna, fusiliers, jacks, Hammerhead, thresher and silvertip sharks, mobula rays, whales, dolphins and much more.
Unfortunately our trip has come to an end and we have to say goodbye, but we hope to see you again soon!

We’ll be diving in the area around Ambon, including famous Ambon Pertamina Wreck and Laha. The Pertamina wreck has tons of soft corals and a really incredible of fish swimming through the wreck. Laha is a fantastic muck dive where you may see recently dicovered creatures like new species of frog fish, rinophias, the incredible mimic octopus, and zebra crabs.
Moving on to Nusa Laut, you’ll dive over beautiful hard and soft corals in this extremely healthy reef. There is plenty of life here with tons of fish including schooling jacks, grey reefs and bumpheads. Leopard sharks and dugongs have also been spotted here so if you’re lucky you’ll get the chance to see them as well.
The Banda Islands may be famous for historical forts and nutmeg plantations, but they also offer some of the most incredible diving in Indonesia. If you love sea fans, you’re in for a treat at Batu Kapal. You’ll also have the unique experience of diving the lava flow, which since the last eruption in 1988 has become a stunning coral garden. You’ll see how nutrient-rich the waters are here by the schools of surgeon fish, banners and so many more reef species. Also, the mandarin fish found here under the pier are some of the biggest you’ll ever lay eyes on.
Traveling around 60 miles south of the Bandas, Manuk is home to some of the largest schools of barracuda in the Banda Sea. The healthy reefs are also home to turtles, sea snakes and a variety of sharks. Visibility is great, so photographers will love diving here.
Southeast of Hatta Island is Karang Hatta, where the dive sites are some of the closest to the 6000 metre deep Banda Trench. This means the chance of seeing large pelagics like white tip reef sharks, hammerheads, grey reef sharks, barracuda and tuna is much higher. In the shallows hard corals swarm with life as well, especially the edge of the reef where the currents starts to hit.
Koon Island off the coast of Seram is a dive with a huge concentration of fish. One site is even called Too Many Fish where, depending on the current, the amount of schooling fish can be almost unbelieveable. You’ll explore this area and choose the best spots depending on the weather conditions and currents. The channels around Seram offer plenty of great dives to choose from.
Arrive in Missol in the southern part of Raja Ampat. Your first stop is at Pulau Pele where Kaleidoscope Reef is as amazing a dive as the name suggests. Fans, colourful soft corals, a wide variety of reef fish and dancing anchovies make this an unforgettable morning dive. Later in the day Wayilbatan offers a dive in the mild currents between 2 small islands. This passage is filled with fans, soft corals and bommies, sweet lips and turtles carried on the current. In the late afternoon the light at Pulau Boo a perfect dive thanks to 3 holes in the middle of the wall where the light creates beautiful effects.
Still in Missol you’ll dive Fiabacet - one of the most famous dive sites in the area. It doesn’t look like much from the surface but under the water the soft corals and the forest of fans are incredible! You’re likely to trevalleys, jacks and mackerel, as well as juvenile grey reef sharks that are making this protected area home.
At Farondi Three Sisters is an underwater ridge with massive steps, and towers of stone, caves, and overhangs covered in soft corals. Expect to see nudibranchs, frogfish and larger marine life like reef sharks and Bumphead parrotfish. Swimming through walls, you’ll see the largest concentration of coral colors and Killer Cave is full of fans and corals where batfish and snapper stop to clean.
Unfortunately our trip has come to an end and we have to say goodbye, but we hope to see you again soon!

★ 5 · Shawn Hill · 2023-08-24This was one of the best vacations we have ever taken! From the comforts of the boat, the knowledge of the dive staff, the dives themselves, the food and the rooms, it all exceeded our expectations. The room was very comfortable and the private bath was very spacious. The boat had lots of space for all guests to spread out and the covered sundeck was the perfect place to relax after a dive or snorkel. It also provided fabulous views of the amazing Indonesian sunsets. The food was excellent! The chef was very accommodating. All the staff were happy and there to assist in any way. The BBQ dinner on the pink beach was beautiful! We will definitely sail with the Tiare again. We highly recommend.
★ 5 · April Peterson · 2023-08-21We had an amazing vacation on the Tiare! The boat was very comfortable and large enough to give you space if you wanted it but intimate enough if you wanted to mingle with the other guests. The staff was wonderful! From the dive staff who were very knowledgeable, the chef who cooked amazing meals including made to order breakfast to the other crew who were ready to get you drinks, fruit, or have water or juice for you before and after your dive. If you don’t want to dive you can snorkel or just relax on the boat. The upper sun deck was a great place to relax between dives and take in unbelievable sunsets. We truly loved everything about the trip - the boat, dives and crew. Our room was very comfortable and the private, spacious bathroom was a nice luxury to have. We will definitely be back to travel on the Tiare!!!
