Atalaia Diving Center

Perched at the water's edge in Madeira's Lido area, the Atalaia Diving Center sits directly beside the Underwater Natural Park, with a sweeping panorama across the Atlantic toward the off-shore Ilhas Desertas. The biggest house reef in Madeira

Beginning right where the protected park ends, Atalaia's house reef is the largest on the island — six top shore-accessible spots reaching from 3 to 30 metres deep. Expect steep walls, tunnels, caves, canyons, wreck diving and plenty of fish, with sightings that may include sharks, whales, turtles and ocean fish. Dive sites include Garajau Beach and Canyon Reef.

As a PADI Resort, the centre offers PADI Scuba Diving, Freediving, Snorkelling and EFR First Aid courses, plus boat dives and night dives. With an onsite training pool, equipment rental and staff speaking English, Spanish, German and Portuguese, it suits every experience level — and families too.
