Maties Underwater Club

Maties Underwater Club is a PADI 5 Star IDC Resort in Hermanus, South Africa, run by a dedicated team of students and young professionals who love sharing the wonders of the Cape's marine biodiversity with the students, residents and visitors of Stellenbosch and the Cape Winelands.

Courses and diving

The club offers guided dives, full gear rental, and PADI courses from Open Water to Divemaster, with Instructor courses available on request. With three PADI Instructors on the crew, it suits everyone from first-time divers taking their first breaths underwater to those training all the way up to PADI Pro. Facilities include an onsite training pool, an onsite classroom and free Wi-Fi, and instruction is offered in English and French.

Local dive sites include Crosses, Coral Gardens, Cow and Calf, Clan Stuart, Windmill Beach, A-Frame, SAS Pietermaritsburg, Millers Point, Partridge Point and the SS Clan Stuart. Divers may encounter sharks, whales, turtles, ocean fish, rays, eels, molluscs and crustaceans, corals, anemones and more.
